BEFORE THE STORM (#1)
Today, I chose option A.
I had to make my own breakfast, usually some bread i brought from the day before and some milk i got from the local farmer. It's 7 am in the morning, quite early to go to the town yet. I grab my Chisel and start polishing a rare stone that i found in the forest during my explorations. Sitting by my 1x 1 meter workshop, I finally finish my masterpiece (anything i finish i call it a masterpiece) after 1 hour of crouching my back and bending my neck. Wow.. a beautiful day outside... The sun was shining, the grass were green, the trees were green, and my hut looks... brown :( . I really wish that i somehow had a green house, to fit in with the nature. I was determined to make my house green before I die of old age. But how... do I make it green? What ever, I'll think of it later. I plucked some fresh vegetables from my 25 X 25 meter of soil and was ready to go to town.
Walking walking walking... "Oh no! I see a person!" I hide behind a tree (NINJA)! (I have to hide whenever i see someone within 1 mile of my hut, or else they'll suspect that I live somewhere around here) Ok.. whew.. he's gone. My ninja skills are really professional by now, since i started practicing it 10 years ago. No one found me once, thanks to the few tips that my mom taught me when i was young. So...continue walking to town..
Today's town was exceptionally noisy. In the center of the town a huge crowd blocked the way to the marketplace. I was about to excuse my way into the crowd and out the other side, because i don't really care about anything political, but i saw a person stand up and gave a speech, "Fellow citizens! Heed me! ! We are tired of getting taxed on salt! We are tired of getting taxed every time we enter this @#%$(*& Town! We are tired of landlords and the nobles taxing us on almost everything in this world as if everything belonged to THEM! We are tired of getting taxed for no reason!..." The speech went on and on.. I never listened to such a long speech before, so it's hard for me to keep up with what he's saying. I remembered hearing things like, "no tax" or "right of the mill"... etc. All I'm thinking is that, I won't have to pay tax anymore... YAY! Finally i can make my hut a little bigger so I won't have to worry about guards finding my little hut and forcing me to pay some ridiculous land tax. Whenever when I don't have to pay the toll tax, then they abolished the tax rule. By that time, I'm going to continue selling fresh vegetables and small jewleries that I made, "FRESHH VEGETABLESSSSSSSSS!!...."
After selling my vegetables, I automatically went to my favorite gambling hall in a small alleyway. In there, I have several gambling "friends" that I play often with. But of course, they can't beat my "100% for sure win luck". So that day I went home with a bag of coins in my pocket, along the way buying some little crafting materials at small shops. The "no tax" idea kept me awake that night, as I thought about how my life is going to change so dramatically in the future.

Diary #2 The Beginnings of the Revolution

I wanted to sell all my "masterpieces" today, so I loaded all my wonderful "masterpieces" in my handmade cart and went to town...

The Town was quite active today... I see people running around everywhere as if they all became messenger boys. Ever since the storming of the Bastille, people became obsessed with having a kitchen knife in one hand, and a cooking pot in the other. I asked them why, they told me that it was better to have a weapon to defend yourselves against nobles and gangs. I took that as a tip for survival, so I sharpened a pair of daggers for myself a day later, and today I'm about to use it.
Groups, or scores of peasants and the 3rd estate of all kind were together in the center of town, as if ready for war. I tried selling some of my my little cute "masterpieces" to the bystanders, but they all refused to buy and told me to scram. I got curious," What were they doing grouped up together?" . Then I saw Francois Cheney, the neighboring farmer that taught me how to cook and farm, standing on a crate and commanding 2 scores of peasants all armed with forks and sickles. I was impressed..." HE? THE ONLY FARMER I KNEW FOR 10 YEARS IS COMMANDING A HORDE OF PEASANTS? INSANE!" He caught me staring at him, and then he came over to me and asked me to join them in a raid of a nearby noble's mansion. I asked him why and he replied,"Well, for bread of course! You don't think that everyone there is as healthy and good tempered like you when you're living in your little hut in the forest!" I didn't think of that, because I was totally oblivious to the other farmers. But I did notice that he got skinnier since the last time I saw him a season ago during the winter of the great drought. I'm guessing that all of his crops died and he went hungry. Maybe next time I should ask him to come to my hut for the winter after I made my hut bigger :\ . Then he added, "But, if we capture the noble in that mansion, we won't have to pay him tax anymore-" By the mere words of "not paying tax", my mind swam, "No.. Tax... No.. Tax... No.. Tax..." The dreams that I dreamed when I slept. The futuristic life of not having to hide in the woods to avoid tax... How wonderful! I can finally build a bigger hut! Then I looked at Francois, it seemed as if I was destined to meet him right here right now. I agreed right away to his offer, as I pulled out my dual butterfly daggers from my pile of "masterpieces" and a short sword from that my mother used to use... I was ready... after I took care of my "masterpieces" of course...

I was to act as a scout due to my undetectable stealth skills (NINJA!). I climbed over the wall of the mansion and slowly sneaked my way into the mansion unseen by a single living creature (yes... including insects). Thanks to my good general sense of directions, I found the noble writing on a desk in his room. Suddenly, I was on him and my butterfly daggers on his throat. I demanded him, "Give me 20 loaves of Bread or give me all your money!". He was too scared to even choke a single word, as he leaked in his pants. Guards were coming in now, so I took him in my deadly dual dagger death grip and maneuvered him to the entrance of the mansion.

When I got out, Francois and others were stood there dumbfounded. I knew that they hated me for taking all the fun, but hey, at least I finished my job :\ . I handed the noble to Francois as I happily stood back into the crowd of peasants. Francois, obviously impressed, asked the noble his name. "Duke of Gasconny, a relative to the King himself". Francois, was scared now. I saw his face change from pale to dark colored. Duke of Gasconny obviously enjoying this, knowing that they were afraid of him. Well, Duke of Gasconny was wrong.
In the end, The whole group of peasants decided together that they should keep Duke of Gasconny as hostage, and then later on burned his mansion. Terrible waste, but hey, at least I won't have to pay tax anymore! So.. in the end, they locked up Duke of Gasconny in a little house in town, as I happily skipped and sang back home to enlarge my new hut. ^_^

TADA!!! MY GREEN EXTENDED HUT IS FINISHED!! ^^ I'm so happy.
images2.JPG(It still stands 200 years later as the best camouflaged hut in France)

I decided to go to town that day after a day of hard work on my new hut. But during my way to town, I saw an army of men and horses march coming my way. I quickly hid behind a tree as I saw a whole army of blue uniformed men marching towards the west. Then I saw Francois, talking to a noble... "A NOBLE? WHAT? IS FRANCOIS A TRAITOR?" His eyes, contacted with mine. A sudden thought came to my mind, "What if Francois told on me? I'll be vulnerable and the nobles will find my Green Hut and my poor little "masterpieces" will be..." The fear grabbed at my heart. I have only one choice left; follow Francois and the noble and see what they are plotting..." I silently pulled out my deadly dual daggers out from my inner pockets of my clothes. I waited until last person in line came and silently murdered him. I striped all his clothes and followed the rest of the army. Unfortunately, I didn't know that they were going to walk for days...

Francois never left my eyesight. He was lucky... he had a cart... while I had to march 10 hours straight everyday without rest in a full clad of armor... On the way, I was almost on the verge of dying, but I kept on reminding of myself, “I’m doing this for the safety of my green hut and my ‘masterpieces’!” So...I persevered for 5 days straight.

We finally arrived at Jean-Paul Girard's House. I saw the guards locked Francois inside a cell. "Ah, good, so Francois wasn't betraying me, whew, or else he wouldn't be locked up." I stole 2 horses and tied them to a nearby tree. Then I went to free Francois. I found the guard that had the key to Francois's cell. I still had the guard uniform on, so I walked up to him in a friendly manor and started having a conversation going. He told me of rumors from Paris where a group of men who totally hated the 1st and 2nd estates called the "Sans Culottes" raided the Tuileries, the King's palace and guillotined King Louis XVI, and how the Jacobins took over the government in Paris. I thought, “How could the king die so easily?” I always thought that the king was invincible; I never thought that he would die so easily...It was an unimaginable thought. I also learned that, the noble currently taking Francois as hostage is named Jean-Paul Girar. He described that Jean-Paul Girar was an evil mastermind that likes to manipulate people to his desires. A cold shiver ran through my spine after I heard that. Now I know what type of person I’m dealing with... Anyways, when I broke up the conversation, I never forgot to steal his keys from his back pocket that he hooked it in. I swiftly and silently unlocked Francois's cell I helped him escape the mansion on horseback. But just when we left, we saw a whole horde of people violently raided into the mansion. We took a detour route into the forest and settled behind a bush to watch the massacre outside the mansion. Out of the corner of my eyes, I saw Jean-Paul Girard with his wife running for their lives. I pulled out my butterfly daggers and was about to chase them, and end this evil mastermind’s life, but Francois stopped me. I stared at Francois incredibly but he just kept shaking his head. I let Jean-Paul Girard and his wife escape that day, and I never saw them again.

Epilogue: I went back and lived happily ever after in my little green hut. :)
